NYPD Arrests All Carrying Marijuana Ingredient, THC

There was a day - recently actually - where the NYPD decided to lay off the petty marijuana arrests. The amount of young men arrested for carrying a bag of weed doesn't quite equate to the time they spent behind bars. But now check this out: Breaking news indicates that you won't go to jail for carrying a bag of weed. However, if you get caught with THC, which is the most active agent in marijuana, you're more than likely going to get in some serious trouble.

The THC oils that people are getting caught with now are usually held in a vape pen. It comes in a portable-sized container, which is usually attached to an electronic device that can be mistaken for a pen. This is kind of absurd; even Councilman Lancman, who currently running for Queens District Attorney at the moment, thinks its ridiculous. The Councilman is outraged, voicing his frustrations to Police Commissioner James O'Neil and other NYPD Execs a City Council hearing last Wednesday.

"They are getting charged with a Class A Misdemeanor for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, similar to the charge of a person holding a small amount of heroin on them." - Lancman

That's about a year in jail, which in turn can effectively ruin someones life long term. It's all because THC is labeled as a controlled substance.
