According to the Food and Health Administration, more than 200 million eggs have been recalled for possible Salmonella risks. Insane, right? Of course - especially since eggs are part of most health diets and breakfast favorites. There goes brunch on Sundays!

What is Salmonella? Well, it is a bacteria that can cause some very unpleasant infections. Salmonella is most common within children. However, older adults, babies and people diagnosed with AIDS are likely to suffer more severe cases of the bacterial infection. We advise you to seek medical attention if you've eaten these eggs and experience diarrhea, chills, abdominal pains and/or high fever within 12-72 hours after digestion. It is definitely something that can be treated by a medical professional; most people only need fluids to get over it, but others may need IV fluids and antibiotics.

So, word through the press is that at least 22 people have gotten sick lately. This is in connection to a specific egg brand. Eggs distribution from Rose Acre Farms in Hyde County, NC has been put to a halt because they may have been contaminated with Salmonella - yes, "may have" is the phrase they used. Unfortunately, they were already disbursed and sold to stores and restaurants within nine states (Colorado, Florida, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania).

If you have purchased or have been using eggs that were identified in the recall, the FDA encourages you to discard them immediately and return them from where it was purchased!

Hopefully you kept your receipt.
