Actor Taye Diggs will be joining the cast of Empire for the FOX drama's third season.
Diggs landed a recurring role to play as Angelo Dubois, who was raised in a well respected New York family and councilman. As you would assume that his role would be concerned with wealth, Dubois is more intertwined with local politics and community organization. The internet is roaring with thoughts and opinions. Blogs and popular media outlets, such as TVLine and EW reported that Diggs role on Empire is solely inspired by our president, Barack Obama.
Via EW: The actor, who also recently had a recurring role on on the Fox series Rosewood, will recur as Angelo Dubois, a New York councilman with a Harvard law degree and a wealthy family background. Instead of pursuing richer endeavors, Dubois instead focuses on local politics and community issues, which inspires Barack Obama comparisons.
Diggs is set to make his debut on Empire during the season's September 21st premiere, joining fellow season 3 guest stars rap mogul Birdman (who plays himself) , French Montana and singer Sierra McClain. Who know, maybe this will be a recurring role for Diggs. Rapper Xzibit - who joined the second season roster of Empire - has landed a position as a series regular, playing Lucious Lyon's music making, drug dealing contender.
